 PantheROV IV, a student-built remotely operated vehicle (ROV), prowled the deep this summer at the International ROV Competition. A team for next year's competition is forming now.  Underwater Noise of Rain, an art exhibit by Lane Hall and Lisa Moline featuring images of copepods photographed by GLWI scientist Rudi Strickler, will be on display Sep. 30-Nov. 19 at Madison's Overture Center for the Arts.  The October H2O column: Read how GLWI scientist Fred Binkowski is tracking sturgeon from the air to learn more about the species' life history. The Research Experience for Undgraduates (REU) program at GLWI's Center for Great Lakes Studies gives students an opportunity to immerse themselves in aquatic research. The Chicago Tribune recently followed GLWI researchers to the bottom of Lake Michigan during an outing to study the lake's rapidly shifting ecosystem. Click here for the July 30 article and video. Inland Seas, a film by GLWI scientist Rebecca Klaper, will air on MPTV in August. The film delves into the science behind the Great Lakes Compact. Click here for details. In Search of the Lake Trout, a video produced by National Public Radio's Science Friday, follows GLWI scientist John Janssen and his research team as they search for baby trout at Lake Michigan's mid-lake reef. National Public Radio's Science Friday broadcast a live show about the Great Lakes from Milwaukee on May 16. GLWI scientists Val Klump and Rebecca Klaper were two of the show's guests.  GLWI researchers arrived in April at Growing Power, an urban farm on Milwaukee's north side, with a special delivery: 10,000 young yellow perch.  The Weather Channel's Forecast Earth aired "The Great Lakes Water Battle" on Jan. 12. Portions of the program were filmed aboard GLWI's research vessel, Neeskay.
