Wisconsin
Sea Grant Advisory Services
The
University of Wisconsin's Sea Grant Advisory Services
Program serves Great Lakes users by applying science
to solve problems, to provide new opportunities,
and to educate citizens on Great Lakes concerns.
Sea Grant Advisory Services maintains an office
at the Great Lakes WATER Institute. The Sea Grant
Marine Education Specialist, based at the WATER
Institute office, teaches formal (K-12) and non-formal
(e.g., nature centers) educators the science of
the Great Lakes and oceans. Support to educators
statewide is provided through in-service training,
workshops and summer courses. This office also
serves as a bridge between the university community
and the Lake Michigan user community of southeastern
Wisconsin, responding to requests for information
and short-term technical assistance, and applying
new tools to better understand and manage economic
and environmental resources.
