Student IT Specialist

The UWM Great Lakes WATER Institute, located at 600 E. Greenfield Ave. in Milwaukee, seeks a Student IT Specialist. Job is open to UWM students only.

Specific duties include:

  • Desktop IT support: install software on user PC's, troubleshoot problems.
  • Training: train users on software and hardware procedures.
  • Specify new purchases: work with users to spec-out new computer systems and peripherals.
  • Assist with maintenance and operation of the WATER Institute Linux file and web servers.
  • Help maintain content on the WATER Institute web site and intranet.

The Student IT Specialist candidate must have excellent communication skills, and must be a "people" person, as the job entails working closely with a wide variety of staff on a daily basis.

Experience or aptitude with troubleshooting Windows problems is required. Linux experience and knowledge is a big plus.

In summary, the ideal candidate will have a keen interest in IT and be eager to learn more.

Hourly pay will be based on experience and skill level.

The UWM Great Lakes WATER Institute is located at 600 E. Greenfield Avenue, and applicants must be able to provide their own transportation. The Route 15 bus passes within a block of the UWM Campus, and stops 1/3 of a mile west of the UWM Great Lakes WATER Institute.
