Project Timeline

• Fall 2002: Grant applications submitted to MMSD and WICMP
• Winter 2002: Secured partial funding of $ 95,000 from MMSD
• Spring 2003: Structural evaluation and selection of green roof system type
• Summer 2003: Web cam installation and web site development, Green Grid design by Weston and Assoc., site preparation, installation of green roof, and vegetation planting.
• Fall 2003: Installation of the green roof completed
• October 2, 2003: Dedication of Green Roof including tours and open house
• Summer 2004: Education and outreach, including tours of Great Lakes WATER Institute Green Roof; lectures about green roofs and green building technologies in the community; and submitted a grant to MMSD for further green roof monitoring research.
• Fall 2004: 2nd Annual Green Roof Open House, including a tour of the green roof and acknowledgement of other green roof installations in Milwaukee County.

Wish list: expansion of vegetated roof surface and grey water irrigation system (pending future funding…)
